Travel News for Spain
When can I go on holiday to Mallorca again?
There is still no date set for non-essential travel between the UK and the Balearic Islands. That said, there are a limited number of flights arriving and leaving from Palma de Mallorca airport but you can only travel if you can justify why - work or health reasons, return to place of residence or to care for another reason, ie: elderly, dependent or disabled person.
Three German passengers were turned back at the airport this week and sent back home, and in total 59 people have been stopped and turned back at airports and ports in Mallorca since the beginning of the State of Alarm. Current arrivals have to self-isolate for 2 weeks.
Non-essential travel is not permitted from the minland Spain either, nor between the islands, though this will probably be the first form of travel to be allowed. And the Balearics, along with the Canary Islands, count as the least affected regions in Spain, they are likely to be the first regions to open up to foreign travel.
In the meantime, the de-escalation process will continue throughout the month of June, with gradual reopening of businesses, some outdoor spaces in bars and restaurants are now open, as are small shops, and travelby car around the island is permitted.
International borders and tourism is set to begin towards theend of June, in line with the end of Phase 4.
